Hello!

I thought this first blog I would do would just be a quick Hello and introduction to our company.

Porter Electric, LLC is an electrical contracting company in Pekin, IL. Our owners are Greg and Mike. Both of them started with the apprenticeship in Local 34 roughly 12 years ago. They received the best schooling and training an electrician can get. Their careers with other companies were moving fast and had great potential, but these guys had bigger dreams.

Greg and I have known each other for 16 years and when he first came to me and told me he wanted to open his own electrical business, I knew this company would be successful from the beginning. I was honored when he asked me to be the accountant/office manager (I just didn't know what I was getting into at the time 😉). So it all started with some emailing back and forth, business plans, forecasting financial statements and all for free because I knew this was all for a much better future.

After much diligent planning and preparation, the company made its first official dollar on May 23, 2016 and we have not slowed down since. We hired a shop truck driver in October of 2016, another Union electrician in March of 2017, and I came on full time in March of 2017 as well. We had no idea business would pick up as quickly as it has and we owe it all to our customers! High recommendations from previous customers have brought on so many new customers that keep our business going.

Our team is dedicated in providing quality electrical service at an affordable price. Greg recently told me his main goal in running this business is to provide quality work to our customers that make them remember our name and to provide the best work environment to his employees, while allowing them to support their families. Greg and Mike genuinely care about their employees and the people in the community and that is what made it a no brainer for me when I switched jobs. I left a stable company that had been open for 10+ years to come work for a brand new company. Many people warned me of the risk but I knew the benefits outweighed any possible risk there was. It is rare to find a company that truly cares for the well-being of not only its employees, but their families, and their financial future.

So I decided to start blogging to keep everyone updated on business and give some electrical tips to keep everyone safe and aware of what is going on in their homes! Do not hesitate to reach out to us at any time for a free estimate or advice on anything you need!
